When We’re Living in the Land of Not Enough

Motherhood can make us feel like we moved to The Land of Not Enough - not enough sleep, time, energy, or resources. We run out of milk, money, medicine, and patience.

In our survey, 76% of moms reported feeling scarcity - too little time and too few resources, too many demands and a culture that glorifies busyness. One mom shared, “Caring for my special needs child is overwhelming. There is no time for anything else.” Another wrote simply “We never have enough money.”

This week, we’ll meet a Gentile widow from 1 Kings 17, a woman we’ll call Zerah, which means dawning like the sun. A brutal drought has left Zerah with only enough oil and flour to make one last loaf before she and her son die. That’s when God sends the prophet Elijah to show her the love and power of the one true God.

This week, as we study God’s love for Zerah, moms will have the chance to:

  • notice where and how God shows up when we are feeling tapped out and hopeless

  • tell God the “whole truth” by practicing Really God? prayers

  • trust Jesus as we learn to pray for our daily bread and practice generosity

  • experience the freedom of living in The Land of Now I Know

  • become wildly generous agent of shalom
